The Classification of Float Glass
Now there are many kinds of glass on the market, but do you know the classification of glass ?
Today we have organized for you, 3 methods of glass classification:
Ⅰ. Classified By Composition of glass:
① Sodium Calcium Glass. Silica (SiO2) content is dominant, but also contains 15% of sodium oxide (chemical formula Na2O, is the normal oxide of sodium, at room temperature is a white solid) and 16% of calcium oxide (commonly known as quicklime or lime, chemical formula CaO, is common inorganic compounds).
② Aluminosilicate glass. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3, often abbreviated as Alumina, one of the most popular families of fine ceramic materials worldwide) are the main components.
③ Quartz Glass. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) content greater than 99.5%
④ High silica glass. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) content of about 96%
⑤ Lead silicate glass. The main components are silicon dioxide (SiO2) and lead monoxide (PbO).
⑥ Borosilicate Glass. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) and diboron trioxide (B2O3) as the main components.
⑦ Phosphate glass. Phosphorus pentoxide is the main component.
Ⅱ. Classified By Production Process Of Glass:
Hot melt glass; cameo glass ;wrought glass; crystal glass; glazed glass ;laminated glass ; hotel products ;polycrystalline glass ;glass mosaic; shadowless adhesive glass; laminated glass; tempered glass ;insulating glass; dimming glass; luminoUs Glass and other products.
Of course, these are not the focus of our discussion in this article. We take a pass on it .
Ⅲ. Classified By Raw Material Processing:
① Float glass
② Overflow Method
These two methods are the focus of our introduction today.
We first briefly introduce the first method, float glass:
What Float glass is ?
① Formulated with sea sand, quartz sandstone powder, soda ash, dolomite and other raw materials, melted at high temperatures, the glass liquid from the kiln continuous flow to and floating in the metal on the liquid surface, spread into a uniform thickness of flat, flame-polished glass, cooled and hardened out of the metal liquid, and then annealed and cut into a transparent colorless plate glass.
② Float production molding process is completed in the protective gas vat, so the float glass has a tin side and air side of the difference.

What is Overflow Pull-Down Glass ?
Next, we will introduce the overflow pull-down method:
Overflow pull down method, what does it mean? Understand from the words, overflow! Pull-down! The glass liquid is pulled down and shaped in a slow process of overflow. Let's put a picture so you can understand it:

So there is no distinction between the tin side and the air side of the overflow method glass.
