How to Identify AG AR AF Glass ?

    2024-06-17

In the previous three articles, we introduced:

    What is AG glass?

    What is AR glass?

    What is AF glass?

I believe some readers will ask:

So, how do I distinguish between these three types of glass? How can I know whether the factory has coated my glass? If it has been coated, how do i know which side is it coated on?

Well, today we will introduce some simple methods to teach you how to quickly identify whether the glass is coated and distinguish which side is the coated side.

    1. A Simple Way To Identify Ag Glass

Place a piece of glass under a fluorescent lamp and observe the lamp from the front of the glass. If the light source is dispersed, it is the AG-treated surface, and if the light source is clearly visible, it is the non-AG surface.

From the picture below, we can clearly see that it is a piece of AG glass.

    2. Simple Ways To Identify Ar Glass

Take a piece of ordinary glass and AR glass, and place them close to a computer or LCD screen at the same time. The AR glass will be significantly clearer and more colorful.

Of course, there is another method: by observing with the naked eye, generally the surface of AR glass will have coating color. (This method is not always effective, because some AR coating colors are transparent)

    3. Simple Methods To Identify Af Glass

Method 1 : The identification method of AF glass is the easiest. Just drop a drop of water on the glass surface. If the water droplets stand upright on the glass surface beautifully and can roll freely, it is the AF surface. On the contrary, if the water droplets spread out, it is the non-AF surface.

Methods 2 : Of course, there is another way to distinguish AF, which is to use a ballpoint pen. Use a ballpoint pen to draw a line, and the surface that cannot be drawn is the AF surface.

Both of the above methods utilize the oleophobic and hydrophobic properties of AF glass.
